Gallstone Disease

Gallstone Disease is caused by several things, such as obesity, pregnancy, blood triglyceride levels, Crohn's disease, advanced age, oral hormonal therapy, eating meals high in fat, heredity factors and weight loss suddenly.

Basically, gallstones are heaps of existing crystals in the bile duct or in the gall bladder. G
allbladder function is to store bile. After going through a mechanism that is long enough, the bile will have condensation, and serves to digest food in the intestines, especially the fat and give color to the stool.

 If someone gets gallstone disease, he will experience tremendous pain and pain usually appear suddenly and disappear. There are two types of gallstones, ranging from the size of a golf ball as small as sand. Most gallstones are formed in the gall bladder and most of the stones in the bile duct from gallbladder stones.

Symptoms of Gallstone Disease

Gallstone disease does not cause symptoms, so it is difficult to be detected quickly. when gallstones began to swell, can clog bile duct causing infection. The infection is caused by bacteria, the infection can spread to the liver and pancreas.

Gallstone, the pain that arises could come at any time, disappear then emerge, sharp, and can occur within a few hours. Blockage accompanied by infection will cause jaundice (jaundice), fever and chills. If it appears that continuous pain in the right upper abdomen immediately consult a doctor to be diagnosed and receive appropriate treatment.

Diagnosis of Gallstone Disease


Gallstone Disease can be diagnosed using ultrasound. In addition, it can also be done using cholecystography, CT scans and x-rays.
